Overview
Hyeeun Kang completed the artist's original technique of plucking threads from the paints after 10 years of trials and errors. Just as a silkworm pulls out a thread to make a cocoon, it exerts adequate pressure on the mass of oil paintings to build up thick and thin color lines layer by layer on canvas. As the process of intersecting and mixing the thick and thin lines from the emulsified sense is repeated, new layers are continuously formed on the screen, and the multi-layered structure thus formed is represented by fantastic colors and three-dimensional textures as the lines and layers of colors of various thicknesses blend together.
강혜은 작가는 10년 간의 시행착오 끝에 물감에서 실을 뽑는 독창적 기법을 완성하였다. 누에가 실을 뽑아 고치를 만들어가듯, 유화 물감 덩어리에 적정한 압력을 가하여 굵고 가는 색선(色線)을 캔버스에 층층이 쌓아 올린다. 유화물감에서 나온 굵고 가는 선들이 교차하고 융합하는 과정이 반복되는 가운데 화면 위에 계속적으로 새로운 층이 형성되어가고, 이렇게 형성된 다층구조는 다양한 굵기의 선과 색, 그리고 물감의 층이 함께 어우러지면서 환상적인 색감과 입체적 질감으로 표출된다.
